Perspective in theory of cognition is the choice of a context or a reference (or the result of this choice) from which to sense, categorize, measure or codify experience, cohesively forming a coherent belief, typically for comparing with another. One may further recognize a number of subtly distinctive meanings, close to those of paradigm, point of view, reality tunnel, umwelt, or weltanschauung. This phenomenon of cognitive bias is also sometimes described as mental inertia, "groupthink", or a "paradigm", and it is often difficult to counteract its effects upon analysis and decision making processes. full reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mindset To put it simply, both are different meanings. Perspective would mean a point of view of a person, whereas mindset would mean theories taken into consideration by a certain person or group. However, both would affect a person's decision in something. For example, 2 people, A and B, looks at a painting drawn by a famous artist. However the painting was just a single line verticle down. A might say "WOW! What a wonderful art piece!" while B might say "THIS IS RUBBISH! It's just A LINE!" Ah well, this is 1 easy example to show that different people has different ways of viewing 1 object, and in this case is the painting. But what influence these perspective? Is usually the mindset that the person has. For example, why A would think it is a wonderful painting because maybe he admires the artists, or probably he finds that the line can represent many things. Whereas B thinks otherwise because he doesn't know what art is, or he can't understand the significance of the painting. So then, this concludes my topic today on Perspective and Mindset. And also, i have found out sth that seems to be happening around in class *post edited* [coz i think it's almost time to remove that thorn in me..=) ]
